Paid Holiday for Bihar Assembly Elections and Bye-Elections 2025 — DoPT Issues Order

New Delhi: Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has announced paid holidays for Central Government employees during the General Elections to the Bihar Legislative Assembly, 2025 and Bye-Elections in various States and Union Territories.

According to the DoPT’s Office Memorandum (F. No. 12/1/2022-JCA) dated November 4, 2025, polling for the Bihar Assembly Elections will be held in two phases — on November 6 (Thursday) and November 11 (Tuesday), 2025.

Additionally, Bye-Elections to 8 Assembly Constituencies across different States/UTs are scheduled for November 11, 2025, covering:

  • Jammu & Kashmir: 27-Budgam and 77-Nagrota
  • Rajasthan: 193-Anta
  • Jharkhand: 45-Ghatsila (ST)
  • Telangana: 61-Jubilee Hills
  • Punjab: 21-Tarn Taran
  • Mizoram: 2-Dampa (ST)
  • Odisha: 71-Naupada

As per existing DoPT guidelines, Central Government Offices and Industrial Establishments in the concerned areas will remain closed on the day of polling.

Employees who are bona fide voters in the respective constituencies are eligible for special casual leave on the polling day, even if they are working outside their home constituency.

This measure ensures employees can exercise their voting rights during the upcoming elections.
