Aadhaar Mobile Update from Home: UIDAI to Launch Online Number Change Feature Soon

Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is set to introduce a new feature that will allow Aadhaar holders to update their registered mobile number directly through the Aadhaar app.

The new Aadhaar Mobile number update option will eliminate the need to visit Aadhaar enrolment centres, making the process faster and more convenient.

UIDAI recently announced on X (formerly Twitter) that users will be able to change their Aadhaar-linked mobile number from home using a secure verification method that combines OTP authentication and face verification on the app.

Currently, updating a mobile number requires an in-person visit due to strict identity checks. The new digital system is expected to benefit senior citizens, disabled individuals, and residents in remote areas who face difficulties accessing authorized centres.

UIDAI has confirmed that the feature will roll out soon and has advised users to download and set up the Aadhaar app on their smartphones in advance.

Once launched, users will simply need their Aadhaar details, the new mobile number, and a phone with face authentication support to complete the update.
