The Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSE&L) is working closely with CBSE, NCERT, KVS, NVS, and various State and Union Territory education departments to design a comprehensive and inclusive AI curriculum.
A stakeholder consultation was held on 29th October 2025, which brought together experts from national educational bodies and technology institutes. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also constituted an expert committee chaired by Prof. Karthik Raman from IIT Madras to lead the development of the AI and CT curriculum.
Speaking at the consultation, Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary (School Education), emphasized that AI education must be treated as a basic universal skill, deeply connected to “The World Around Us.” He said the curriculum should be inclusive, broad-based, and aimed at nurturing every child’s unique potential while ensuring ethical and meaningful use of AI.
He added that teacher training and resource development will be key to successful implementation. Training modules under NISHTHA, along with video-based learning resources and digital handbooks, will help teachers effectively deliver AI-related content in classrooms.
A Coordination Committee formed jointly by NCERT and CBSE under the NCF SE will oversee the structuring, integration, and quality assurance of the AI and CT curriculum.
Smt. Prachi Pandey, Joint Secretary (I&T), urged all stakeholders to adhere to the development timelines to ensure a smooth rollout by the next academic year.
