All Indian Banks Move to ‘.bank.in’ Domain Under RBI’s New Cybersecurity Rule — Check Your Bank’s Updated Website Link

All Indian banks have officially migrated to the secure ‘.bank.in’ domain, following a directive from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). This regulatory decision ensures that only RBI-licensed banks can operate under the ‘.bank.in’ suffix, giving customers a clear and verified way to identify legitimate banking websites.

Leading public and private sector banks—including State Bank of India (SBI), ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Punjab National Bank, and Kotak Mahindra Bank—have completed the transition.

From now on, official banking websites will operate exclusively through their ‘.bank.in’ domains.

The migration is overseen by the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT) under the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), guarantees that the ‘.bank.in’ space remains tightly controlled and secure.

Old banking URLs now automatically redirect to the new secure domains, ensuring uninterrupted customer access to all online banking features.

Here are the updated official website links for major banks:

Bank NameNew Official Website
State Bank of Indiasbi.bank.in
ICICI Bankicici.bank.in
HDFC Bankhdfc.bank.in
Axis Bankaxis.bank.in
Kotak Mahindra Bankkotak.bank.in
Punjab National Bankpnb.bank.in

Cybersecurity experts are urging users to always verify the ‘.bank.in’ domain before logging in and to avoid accessing online banking services via search engine links. Instead, they recommend bookmarking official URLs to minimize the risk of fraud. Any banking site not ending in ‘.bank.in’ should be treated as potentially unsafe.

Looking ahead, the RBI plans to introduce a ‘.fin.in’ domain for non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) to extend similar protection across the broader financial ecosystem.

This step shows India’s position among global leaders in banking cybersecurity, marking a major milestone in the nation’s digital and financial security framework.
