Bihar-Patna News: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Inaugurates First Phase of Patna Metro; Passenger Services to Begin Tomorrow

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today inaugurated the first phase of the Patna Metro Rail Service. This will help in the state’s urban transport development.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar flagged off the inaugural run and personally travelled from the New Pataliputra Bus Terminal to Bhootnath Station on the newly completed metro line.

The initial 3.6-kilometre stretch, known as the Priority Corridor, connects the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) with Bhootnath Station. This milestone comes six years after the foundation stone for the project was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2019. Regular metro services for the public will commence from tomorrow.

Security arrangements for the metro have been assigned to the Bihar State Auxiliary Police (B-SAP), who will ensure passenger safety throughout operations. Each train will comprise three coaches and can carry around 900 passengers per trip, significantly easing congestion on Patna’s busy roads.
