Big news for SBI Cardholders! For those who don’t know, SBI Card is a subsidiary division of the State Bank of India for issuing credit cards and related services to its customers. SBI card to change its credit card rules for customers effective from 15 July 2025. SBI credit card rules changes for the minimum amount due (MAD) of the monthly bill and the complimentary insurance cover.

SBI Card Revised Minimum amount due (MAD)

SBI Card is making big changes for credit card users (Credit Card Rule Change), and new rules will be effective from July 15.

According to the latest notification, SBI Card has revised the formula for calculating the Minimum Amount Due (MAD) for its credit cards.

According to SBI Card, MAD will not just include 2% of the total outstanding, but 100% of the GST amount, EMI balance, fees, finance charges, overlimit amount (if any) will also be included in the minimum amount due.

As per the SBI Card website, new formula for the minimum amount due MAD calculation

  • 100% GST
  • 100% EMI
  • 100% fees and charges
  • 100% finance charge
  • Overlimit amount (if any)
  • 2% of the outstanding card spend amount

This change means that cardholders will now have to pay more in their monthly minimum due amount to avoid penalties or late fees.

SBI Card ends Air accident insurance cover

With the change in the minimum amount due rule of SBI credit card, the complimentary air accident cover available with SBI credit cards will be discontinued for SBI Card Elite, SBI Card Miles Elite and SBI Card Miles Prime users from July 15. The State Bank of India was previously providing this facility to its premium credit cardholders.

SBI Credit card holders will no longer receive the free insurance cover of up to ₹1 crore starting July 15. This cover is up to Rs 50 lakh on SBI Card Prime and SBI Card Pulse, which will also be discontinued.
