DA/DR Hike News: Dearness Relief for Central Government Pensioners Increased to 58% from July 1, 2025: DoP&PW O.M.
New Delhi: Central Government has announced an increase in Dearness Relief (DR) for Central Government Pensioners and Family Pensioners from 55% to 58% of the basic pension or family pension, effective July 1, 2025.
The decision was issued by the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoP&PW) under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions through an official memorandum dated October 8, 2025.

According to the order (No. 42/02/2024-P&PW(D)), the revised DR rate will apply to the following categories:
- Civilian Central Government Pensioners/Family Pensioners, including those absorbed in PSUs and autonomous bodies.
- Armed Forces Pensioners and Family Pensioners.
- All India Service Pensioners and Family Pensioners.
- Railway Pensioners and Family Pensioners.
- Pensioners receiving provisional pension.
- Burma Civilian Pensioners and displaced Government Pensioners from Burma/Pakistan covered under prior DoP&PW orders.
The office memorandum clarifies that fractions of a rupee will be rounded off to the next higher rupee, and that re-employed pensioners and employed family pensioners will be governed by Rule 52 of the CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021 and related orders.
Separate notifications will be issued for retired Judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts by the Department of Justice.
The Accountant General offices and authorised pension disbursing banks have been directed to implement the revised DR rates immediately, without waiting for further instructions from the Comptroller and Auditor General of India or the Reserve Bank of India.
The latest DR hike follows the approval of the Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure’s OM No. 1/4(i)/2025-E.II(B) dated October 6, 2025, and is in line with the government’s biannual revision to offset inflation for pensioners.
This is expected to benefit millions of retired Central Government employees and their families by providing additional financial relief.
