Department of Posts Announces GDS Rule-3 Online Transfer Cycle for October 2025

NEW DELHI: Department of Posts has issued an official order regarding the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Rule-3 Online Transfer Cycle for October 2025.

As per the circular released on 14th October 2025 from Dak Bhawan, New Delhi, the online transfer process for GDS employees will be conducted through the new IT 2.0 portal.

According to the notification, the GDS October 2025 transfer portal will open for vacancy updation by all Divisions and Units from 21st October to 27th October 2025, followed by vacancy approval by Circles between 28th and 30th October 2025.

Online registration and submission of applications by GDS employees seeking transfer or change in HRMS data will take place from 3rd to 12th November 2025. Applicants will also be allowed a one-time modification window between 13th and 15th November 2025 to update their preferences.

Verification of online applications by Divisions will be completed between 17th and 21st November 2025.

The list of approved transfers is scheduled to be published online on 26th November 2025, while cancellation requests, if any, may be submitted from 27th November to 1st December 2025.

Final relieving orders will start being issued from 3rd December onwards, and the final date for relieving or deemed relieving of GDS is fixed as 15th December 2025.

The order further directs CEPT to open the online portal for field units starting 21st October 2025 for vacancy capturing. Vacancies from discharge, voluntary discharge, resignation, absorption in departmental posts, deputation to IPPB/APS, and court-related cases will be considered as per the order.

Plus, vacancies caused by the death of a GDS will also be made available for transfer if not filled by the next of kin within six months from the date of death.

Divisions and Circles have been instructed to strictly adhere to the prescribed timelines and guidelines issued earlier under Rule 3 of the GDS Transfer Facility. Technical and administrative issues related to the process are to be resolved at the Circle or Regional level in consultation with CEPT.
