New Delhi: Government is aiming towards ease of doing travel for passengers. Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari has announced the launch of a new FASTag-based Annual Pass for private vehicle owners for uniform toll practices nationwide.

According to the tweet by Sri Nitin Gadkari, the central government is launching this nationwide from August 15, 2025.

FASTag-based Annual Toll Pass

Union Minister says this new FASTag-based Annual Toll Pass will be priced at Rs. 3,000 for private vehicle owners. Non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans can avail the benefits of a FASTag-based annual toll pass on the National Highways. Commercial vehicles will not get this benefit for their vehicles.

The new Fastag Annual Pass will remain valid for one year from the date of activation or until 200 trips are completed—whichever comes first. “The Annual Pass will enable seamless and cost-effective travel across National Highways throughout the country“, said Sri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India.

How to Apply for New FASTag-based Annual Toll Pass

According to Gadkari ji, a dedicated link for activation and renewal will soon be made available on the Rajmarg Yatra App as well as on the official websites of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). Existing Fastag users will be able to link their existing Fastag id with the annual pass.

To get the new annual pass, users will need to pay an amount of Rs. 3000 to activate the pass. The pass will be valid for one year from the date of activation or 200 trips, whichever comes first. If you complete your 200 trips with the pass, then after 200 trips you can not renew the pass till the renewal date by next year. That means from the 201st trip, you need to pay the standard toll tax fee at toll plaza.

This new annual pass addresses long-standing concerns regarding toll plazas located within a 60 km range and simplifies toll payments through a single, affordable transaction. Union Minister says it will reduce wait times, ease congestion, and minimize disputes at toll plazas.
