Good News for GDS Employees: One-Time Relief Granted for Processing Married Daughter Cases Under GDS Compassionate Engagement Scheme

Good news for Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) employees! Department of Posts has announced a one-time relaxation for Processing Married Daughter Cases Under the GDS Compassionate Engagement Scheme, 2023.

As per the Office Memorandum dated June 5, 2025, issued by the Ministry of Communications, the Assistant Director (GDS) office has received representations from postal circles and GDS unions.

These representations highlight the difficulties being faced in processing cases of ‘married daughters’ of the deceased GDS registered in the Portal seeking compassionate engagement, during the period from 11.12.2023 (the date of launch of the online portal) to prior to the issuance of the ‘Married Daughter’ provision dated 27.06.2024.

Considering these difficulties faced by eligible applicants, the Department has now allowed such cases to be processed in offline or manual mode. If any of these cases were registered in the online portal but could not processed due to system limitations, the circles are now permitted to mark their status as “Processed Manually”.

It’s very good news for Married Daughters, whose cases are pending under the GDS Compassionate Engagement Scheme.
