New Namo Bharat trains (earlier known as Vande Metro) will be advanced coaches just like the Vande Bharat Express. Unlike the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat that runs at up to 160 km/h, the Namo Bharat trains will run at a speed of up to 130 km/hr and will be launched for inter-city routes.
Namo Bharat trains will have air-conditioned coaches, automatic doors, comfortable chair car seating, and panoramic window shields. For the safety of passengers, all the new trains will have the KAVACH anti-collision system, CCTV surveillance, and emergency communication systems.
Passengers capacity of New Namo Bharat trains
According to the Railway Ministry, these new-generation Namo Bharat trains will have a capacity of up to 1,150 seats and 2,058 standing passengers in a 12-coach configuration. The new MEMU trains will have 16 to 20 coaches. Indian Railways will introduce new MEMU trains to increase the capacity and burden of passengers on existing trains in short-distance routes.
