Good News for taxpayers! Do this to get your TDS Refund as early as possible from the Income Tax Department

TDS stands for Tax Deduction at Source. Now getting your TDS refund will be easy from the Income Tax Department. Government has launched a new feature to check the live PAN with bank account linking status. This new feature will help taxpayers to easily claim their TDS refund into their bank account from the IT department.

This initiative new has been introduced by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) through a newly developed API integrated into the income tax e-filing portal.

NPCI launched the new PAN-Bank Account Linking Status Check Facility

National Payments Corporation of India operates retail payments and settlement systems in India. Recently NPCI has launched a new faiclity to help taxpayers.

Usually PAN and bank account link takes about 2-4 weeks. With this new system introduced by NPCI, the time frame is reduced a lot. All thanks go to the instant PAN linking & verification facility using the Core Banking System (CBS).

How will it be helpful?

The new API based PAN-bank account link service will reduce delays, errors, and fraud risks in processing income tax TDS refunds and Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT). It will ensure secure and safe information exchange between the income tax server to bank servers.

The facility enables real-time authentication of PAN details, bank account status, and the account holder’s name, directly from the CBS server. NPCI issued the circular for this service on June 17, 2025, recommending that all participating banks to do the neeful steps to implement it as soon as possible.

Taxpayers are also advised to check if their PAN and bank account are correctly linked on the income tax e-filing website to take full advantage of this new facility.
