Good News: West Bengal State Government employees to get Health Benefits from this new update in WBHS. The new update to WBHS portal will benefit lakhs of employees under the state government

For West Bengal government employees and pensioners, the state government has simplified the claim process under the West Bengal Health Scheme (WBHS) for treatments received at non-empanelled hospitals. As per a new office memorandum issued by the Medical Cell of the Finance Department, changes have been made to the requirement of submitting the Annexure-II form.

Previous Problem

Earlier, state government employees were required to obtain a certificate on the official letterhead of the non-empanelled hospital, along with mention of the patient’s WBHS enrollment ID. However, due to their lack of access to the WBHS portal by hospitals, it was difficult for them to verify the enrollment ID of the patient.

What does the new rule say

The new rule removes the requirement for such certificates on hospital letterhead. Instead, an Annexure-II form is released on the WBHS official website (https://healthscheme.wb.gov.in).

Employees or pensioners must fill in patient-related details first in the Annexure-II form. Then the hospital needs to fill in its license number, validity, and bed count. An authorized official by the hospital must sign and stamp the form.

This new change is effective from May 28, 2025, to provide a more transparent process for claim submission under WBHS. It is expected to benefit lakhs of government servants in the state.
