Good News! Yogi Government Announces Diwali Bonus for 15 Lakh State Employees in Uttar Pradesh State
Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Shri Yogi Adityanath-led Government of Uttar Pradesh has announced a Diwali bonus for around 15 lakh state government employees for the financial year 2024–25. This will benefit both regular and non-gazetted government staff across various departments in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
According to the official order issued by the state’s Finance Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, each eligible employee will receive a bonus of ₹6,908, calculated on 30 days’ worth of emoluments, with the maximum monthly emolument capped at ₹7,000. The total expenditure for this initiative is estimated at ₹1,022 crore.

UP Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath said that the decision shows the government’s commitment to employee welfare and will bring happiness to families during the festive season. “This financial benefit ahead of Diwali will bring joy and enthusiasm to the employees and their families,” he stated.
The bonus covers full-time non-gazetted state employees whose positions fall under Pay Matrix Level 8 (₹47,600–₹1,51,100), with a corresponding grade pay up to ₹4,800. The benefit will also extend to employees of state-aided educational and technical institutions, local bodies, district panchayats, and daily wage workers in government departments.
The Chief Minister has instructed officials to ensure the timely disbursement of the bonus so that all eligible employees receive the amount before Diwali.
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Class IV State Employees Federation, led by State President Ramraj Dubey and General Secretary Suresh Singh Yadav, had earlier written to the Chief Minister requesting the release of pending bonuses, salaries, and the 18 months’ worth of DA from the COVID-19 period before the festival.
The announcement follows the central government’s decision on September 29, 2025, to grant a productivity-linked bonus for central employees for the same financial year, aligning the state’s festive benefits with national trends.
