Indian Railways Jobs: Railways to hire for 1.2 Lakh Vacancies With Secure Exams Nationwide
Ministry of Railways has reaffirmed its major hiring push, announcing that recruitment is currently underway for 1,20,579 vacancies notified across 2024 and 2025.
Union Railways Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, in a written reply in Lok Sabha on December 3, 2025, highlighted that Indian Railways has provided 5.08 lakh jobs in the last 11 years, surpassing the 4.11 lakh recruitments completed in the decade prior.
According to the ministry, the recruitment process is being carried out with full transparency—no paper leaks, no malpractice, and assured exam timelines.

First and single-stage Computer Based Tests (CBTs) have already been completed for 59,678 posts, including Assistant Loco Pilots (ALPs), Technicians, Junior Engineers, Paramedical staff, RPF Sub-Inspectors and Constables.
Large-scale mobilization has been managed across hundreds of cities with multilingual support covering 15 languages, ensuring nationwide accessibility. The ministry confirmed that second-stage CBTs for ALP, JE/DMS/CMA, and NTPC (Graduate) posts are also done, and the Computer Based Aptitude Test for ALP has been successfully concluded.
Testing has now moved to the next phase, with CBT for 32,438 Level-1 vacancies starting from November 27, 2025, and Physical Efficiency Tests for 4,208 RPF Constable posts already underway.
So far, panels have been finalized for more than 23,000 candidates, a majority of whom belong to vital safety roles such as technicians, JEs, paramedical staff, RPF Sub-Inspectors, and ALPs.
Along with the ongoing recruitment, seven additional notifications for 28,463 posts have been issued in 2025 for categories including ALPs, Technicians, Section Controllers, Paramedical, Junior Engineers, and NTPC positions.
The Railways introduced an annual recruitment calendar from 2024, allowing aspirants to plan better with assured schedules, quicker appointments, and more opportunities every year as candidates become eligible.
The ministry also clarified that contractual engagements are strictly temporary, only to handle urgent operational needs, with no scope for regularization under current rules.
With one of the largest public sector recruitment efforts in the country happening smoothly and digitally, the government says it remains committed to strengthening India’s rail workforce while maintaining transparency and efficiency at every step.
