Indian Railways: Vande Bharat Sleeper Express Trains to Launch by mid-2026, Promises High-Speed Journey with Comfort for Long-Distance Travel
Indian Railways to Vande Bharat Sleeper Express Trains June 2026 from the Marathwada Rail Coach Factory in Latur, Maharashtra. New Vande Bharat Sleeper Express trains will be a 16-coach semi-high-speed train with a maximum speed up to 160 km/hr.

Partnership Between Indian Railways & Kinet
Production will begin in phases under a contract between Indian Railways and the private firm Kinet, reported by Swarajya Mag. The sleeper rake will accommodate up to 823 passengers. Each sleeper coach will come with three toilets and a pantry car. Indian Railways is spending an estimated cost of Rs 120 crore for building one complete Vande Bharat Sleeper Express rake.
Although full-scale production has not yet begun, the factory has already received the car body shell from a Chennai-based supplier. All items required for coach manufacturing are reported to be in place.
Production is Underway
Located on 351 acres, the Latur coach factory employs around 10,000 workers and has modern workshops for bogie fitting, car body assembly, painting, and testing. It has 11 assembly stations and an 8.6-km internal test track. Initially, two rakes (32 coaches) will be produced, over time, the factory aims to manufacture 1,920 sleeper coaches.
Maintenance hubs for these new Vande Bharat Sleeper trains are being planned in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Jodhpur.
So, passengers will need to wait a little longer to experience the Sleeper Vande Bharat Trains to experience comfort on overnight journeys.
