Jio, Airtel, Vi Rehcharge Plans Price Hike: Mobile tariffs may rise again, major telecom operators likely to announce 10–12% hike by year-end

New Delhi: Smartphone users in India may soon face higher recharge plans by the year-end. According to an ET Telecom report, leading telecom operators, including Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea, are proposing a 10–12 percent tariff hike by the end of 2025.

This potential increase comes just 18 months after the last round of hikes in July 2024, when base plan prices were raised by 11–23 percent.

In May 2025 alone, 7.4 million new active users were added — the fastest pace in 29 months — taking the total active subscriber base to 1.08 billion.

Industry insiders suggest the hike will likely follow a tiered approach, targeting mid- and high-value recharge plans, while low price rehcrage plans prices may remain unchanged.

“The recent surge in active subscriber additions is not just acceptance of past hikes, but also linked to the return of secondary SIMs into circulation,” an industry executive told ET Telecom.

Operators are also said to be evaluating user categories based on data consumption, network speed, and peak-hour usage before finalising the new plans for the proposed hike.
