New Delhi Railway Station Gets Major Upgradation: The New Yatri Suvidha Kendra Promises Comfort, Connectivity, and Convenience
NEW DELHI NEWS: This festive season, travellers passing through New Delhi Railway Station are witnessing a transformation unlike ever before.
Glowing floors, digital displays, spotless washrooms, and automatic ticket vending machines have replaced the once-crowded ticket queues at New Delhi railway station.
With the inauguration of the 6,000-square-meter Yatri Suvidha Kendra on 11 October 2025, Indian Railways has added a modern facility designed to make passenger journeys smooth and comfortable.
The New Yatri Suvidha Kendra, located alongside the station, serves as a permanent holding area capable of accommodating nearly 7,000 passengers at a time.
Divided into three zones — Pre-ticketing (2,860 sqm), Ticketing (1,150 sqm), and Departure (1,218 sqm) — it ensures better crowd management, especially during India’s busiest travel periods. Passengers can relax on benches while waiting for trains, and the best part: waiting here is completely free of cost.
Inside the new station complex, the ticketing zone features 22 counters and 25 Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs), drastically cutting down long queues.
Around 200 passengers can be seated comfortably, with 18 high-volume low-speed (HVLS) fans maintaining proper ventilation. Cleanliness has been made a top priority — the Kendra houses spacious sanitation units spread over 652 sqm, along with RO-based drinking water facilities.
For real-time updates and safety, the center is equipped with LED information screens, 24 public announcement speakers, fire-fighting systems, CCTV surveillance, metal detectors, and luggage scanners. It’s a blend of comfort and security designed to meet the needs of thousands daily.
Travellers are already noticing the betterment. As reported by PIB, Aman Kashyap, a student from Bareilly, shared, “I got my ticket in just four minutes! It used to take two hours earlier. Now, I can wait here comfortably—it’s clean, airy, and I can even take a nap before my train.”
Dyal Kaur, a 55-year-old passenger heading to Rampur, added, “It’s so easy now, and the staff are very helpful.”
Even long-distance travellers like Nirmala Devi from Gorakhpur and Sameena Khan from Patna say they feel safe staying here overnight. The space is organized, well-lit, and secure — a rare combination in the country’s busiest railway station.
For millions who pass through New Delhi every year, Indian Railways is ready to provide seamless, safe, and stress-free travel.
