New Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains: New Delhi-Patna Sleeper Vande Bharat Express will start soon, Passengers will reach Patna to Delhi in just 9 hours

Good news for train passengers. Indian Railways is soon launching a new Sleeper Vande Bharat Express between Patna and Delhi. The high-speed Sleeper Vande Bharat train is expected to cover approximately 994 kilometres of distance in just about 9 hours. This will reduce travel time and make passengers journeys more comfortable.

Track upgradation on the Patna-Delhi Routes

Railway Board has already initiated groundwork for the launch of sleeper Vande Bharat trains. Railway tracks are being upgraded to handle the high-speed trains on the Patna–Delhi route. Currently, track upgradation is in its final phase. Patna-Delhi Sleeper Vande Bharat Express will be the first Sleeper Vande Bharat train to operate under East Central Railway (ECR).

New Delhi-Patna Vande Bharat Sleeper Express: Route and stoppages

According to East Central Railway (ECR), Vande Bharat Express will travel via Prayagraj Rambag, Ballia, and Chhapra Junction, providing faster access between Delhi and Bihar. Passengers can board or deboard at nine major railway stations, including Ghaziabad, Kanpur Central, Prayagraj Junction, Varanasi, Ghazipur City, Ballia, Suraimanpur, Chhapra Junction, and Patliputra Junction.

New Delhi-Patna Vande Bharat Express: Train Schedule, Ticket Fare

Indian Railways is planning to start the Patna-Delhi Vande Bharat sleeper trains by the end of 2025. The Patna to Delhi route is among the top routes chosen for early launch due to high passenger demand. As of now, Indian Railways is doing trial runs and testing, and the final date for launch will be announced soon by the Railway Ministry.

Hospitality in Sleeper Vande Bharat Trains

New Vande Bharat Sleeper Express trains are fitted with KAVACH, which is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system. EN-45545 HL3 fire safety standards compliant train. Trains are fitted with Crashworthy and Jerk-Free Semi permanent couplers and Anti Climbers, with Crashworthy Design of Carbody complying with EN standards.

Regenerative braking system is used in the Vande Bharat Sleeper Trainsets for energy efficiency. Higher Average speed with quick deceleration and acceleration.

Emergency talk-back units are installed for communication between the Passenger and Train Manager/Loco Pilot in case of an emergency.

Accommodation and accessible toilets for Passengers with Restricted Mobility (PRM) in the driving coaches on each end. Centrally controlled Automatic Plug Doors and Fully Sealed wider gangways are there in the new sleeper Vande Bharat. Ergonomically designed ladder for ease of climbing onto upper berths.

Centralized Coach Monitoring System for better condition monitoring of passenger amenities such as Air conditioning, Saloon Lighting etc. CCTV surveillance cameras are installed in all coaches for passengers safety.

Other Developments in Bihar State

At a recent event at Patliputra Junction, Hon’ble Member of Parliament Sri Ravi Shankar Prasad announced that the new trains are part of an ₹80,000 crore development plan for Bihar. He also mentioned the ongoing efforts to establish a Central University in Bihar state.
