NHAI FASTag News: NHAI Eases Know Your Vehicle (KYV) Process for FASTag Users

New Delhi: National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced a major simplification of the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) process for FASTag users, for improving convenience and ensuring uninterrupted toll services.

The new guidelines have been issued by the Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL).

Under the revised rules, FASTag services will not be discontinued for users who have not yet completed the KYV process. Instead, they will be given sufficient time and support to complete it.

As per the updated process, side photographs of vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans are no longer required. Users now need to upload only the front image showing the number plate and the FASTag.

The system will also auto-fetch Registration Certificate (RC) details from the Vahan database when users enter their vehicle number, chassis number, or mobile number.

If multiple vehicles are linked to a single mobile number, users can choose the specific vehicle for which they wish to complete the KYV process.

To ensure smooth service, FASTags issued before the KYV policy will remain active, except in cases where complaints of misuse or loose tags are received. Issuer banks will also send SMS reminders to users to complete the process.

For users facing any issues while uploading documents, banks are required to proactively reach out and assist customers in completing their KYV verification before any disconnection occurs. Additionally, customers can raise queries or complaints by calling the National Highway Helpline Number – 1033.

This move reflects NHAI’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the FASTag ecosystem and provide a seamless, user-friendly experience for highway travelers across India.
