NHAI Launches FASTag Annual Pass: How to Apply, Benefits, FAQs and all
New Delhi: On Independence Day 2025, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways launched the FASTag Annual Pass for private vehicles. The annual charge for the FASTag Annual Pass is Rs. 3,000. It allows toll-free travel on select National Highways and Expressways for one year or up to 200 trips, whichever comes first.
Benefits of FASTag Annual Pass
FASTag Annual Pass is simple. Once you activate the FASTag Annual Pass for your vehicle, it waives per-trip toll tax at designated plazas.
According to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the annual pass can help travellers save nearly 70% on toll fees.
For example, if an average toll costs ₹50, 200 trips would normally amount to ₹10,000. With the annual pass, the same journey costs only ₹3,000, so the vehicle owner saves around ₹7,000.
How to Activate FASTag Annual Pass?
The FASTag Annual Pass can be activated through the Rajmargyatra app or the NHAI website. Users need to enter their vehicle and FASTag details, check eligibility for the annual toll pass, and pay ₹3,000 online. The annual pass will be activated within 2 hours.

However, the annual toll pass comes with limitations. At present, the FASTag annual toll pass is valid only at National Highway and National Expressway toll plazas, not at State Highway or city tolls.
It is also non-transferable, which means it can only be used for the vehicle on which the FASTag is registered. Misuse of another vehicle will lead to the deactivation of the FASTag account.
At present, the option to choose an annual pass is optional for users. Regular FASTag transactions will continue as usual for those who do not opt in for the annual pass. For frequent highway travellers, especially those using long routes with high toll charges, the pass will save you more money.

No. You do not need to purchase a new FASTag. The Annual Pass can be activated on your existing FASTag, provided it meets the eligibility criteria (i.e., it is properly aIixed on the vehicle’s windshield, linked to a valid Vehicle Registration Number, not blacklisted etc).
It is valid only at National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee plazas. At fee plazas on Expressways, State Highways (SH), etc. managed by State Governments or local bodies, the FASTag will operate as a regular FASTag, and applicable user fee charges may apply.
The Annual Pass is valid for one year from the date of activation or 200 transactions (crossings), whichever comes first. Once the Annual Pass completes either 200 crossings or one year from the date of activation, it will automatically revert to a regular FASTag. To continue using the Annual Pass benefits, the user will need to re-activate the Annual Pass to get 200 crossings / 1 year validity.
No. The Annual Pass is applicable only for private non-commercial Car/Jeep/Van. Use in any commercial vehicle will result in immediate deactivation without notice.
No. The pass is non-transferable and is valid only for the vehicle on which the FASTag is aIixed and registered. Using it on another vehicle will lead to deactivation.
Yes. The Annual Pass will be activated only on FASTags properly affixed to the windshield of the registered vehicle.
No. The Annual Pass cannot be issued on FASTags registered only with a chassis number. You must update the Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) to activate the Annual Pass.
For point-based fee plazas: Each crossing of fee plaza counts as one crossing. A round crossing (to and fro) counts as two crossings. For Closed Tolling fee plazas: One pair of entry and exit counts as one crossing.
Yes. By activating the Annual Pass, you consent to allow Rajmargyatra to retrieve your registered mobile number from the issuing bank for the purpose of sending SMS alerts and other mode of communications.
The Annual Pass mandatory is not mandatory, existing FASTag ecosystem will continue to operate as is. Users who do not opt for the Annual Pass can continue to use their FASTag for regular transactions as per applicable user fee rates at fee plazas.
No. You must pay the Annual Pass fee of ₹3000 through the payment options available in the Rajmargyatra App. Your existing wallet balance can still be used for State Highway tolls, parking, etc.
Yes. You can activate the Annual Pass even if you have a Local or Monthly Pass. At toll plazas where another pass is active, crossings will not be counted from your Annual Pass.
