NHAI Launches ‘Project Aarohan’ to Support Education of Toll Plaza Employees’ Children
New Delhi: National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), in partnership with Vertis Infrastructure Trust, has launched ‘Project Aarohan’, a special initiative to support the education of children of toll plaza employees. The program was inaugurated by NHAI Chairman Shri Santosh Kumar Yadav at NHAI Headquarters, with senior officials and Dr. Zafar Khan, Executive Director and Joint CEO of Vertis Infrastructure Trust, present at the event.
‘Project Aarohan’ scheme is designed to help students from economically weaker backgrounds, including girls, beginner learners, and children belonging to EWS, SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities. Its main goal is to reduce the financial burden and boost education.

In the first phase, running from July 2025 to March 2026, a fund of ₹1 crore has been allocated. Around 500 students from Class 11 to graduation will receive scholarships of ₹12,000 each for FY 2025–26 from NHAI. Plus, 50 bright students aspiring for postgraduate and higher studies will be awarded ₹50,000 scholarships each.
Along with scholarship, the project will also provide mentorship, skill-building workshops, and career guidance to prepare students for future higher education, jobs, and entrepreneurship.
Speaking at the launch, Shri Yadav said that “Project Aarohan reflects NHAI’s commitment to the people who keep our highways running and to the aspirations of their families. By investing in the education and guidance of their children, we are nurturing talent that will power India’s growth in the coming decade.”
Applications are invited through an online portal, where students will need to upload school certificates, income proof, caste certificate, and ID proof.

The nationwide project will reach a community of toll‑plaza personnel that are deployed at a vast network of toll plazas on National Highways. With its far-reaching impact, ‘Project Aarohan’ will go a long way in providing financial assistance, career awareness and structured mentorship to the bright students of toll plaza employees across the country.
