Now Ayushman Bharat at Doorstep: Big Boost to Delhi’s Healthcare, Union Health Minister Shri J P Nadda flags off Ayushman Bharat Registration Vans

New Delhi: Today (6th July 2025), Union Health Minister J P Nadda distributed appointment letters to newly selected nursing officers and allied healthcare professionals in Delhi.

According to the PIB Press Release, A total of 1,388 nursing officers and 41 paramedical staff have been selected through DSSSB (Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board), out of which 570 nursing officers and 20 refractionists received appointment letters on July 6, 2025.

Doorstep Ayushman Bharat Registration in Delhi

The minister also flagged off specially designed Ayushman Bharat Registration Vans at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. These vans will travel across all 70 Assembly Constituencies in Delhi to help eligible citizens register for the Ayushman Bharat health scheme at their doorsteps.

Hon’ble Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Shri J P Nadda called the moment “historic,” as such a large number of health staff are being appointed after 15 years. He praised the Delhi Government for improving health infrastructure and expanding government services under schemes like Ayushman Bharat and PM-ABHIM.

Union Health Minister highlighted the growth in healthcare services across India:

  • Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) dropped from 130 to 88 per lakh live births.
  • Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) reduced from 39 to 26 per 1,000 live births.
  • Under-Five Mortality Rate fell by 42%, while Neonatal Mortality Rate declined by 40%.

The government has also worked upon disease screening, with crores of people tested for conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and cancer.

Delhi’s Heathcare Infrastructure

Delhi’s Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta also addressed the gathering. She said that 4 lakh Ayushman Cards have already been issued in Delhi, including 2 lakh under the Vay Vandana scheme for senior citizens.

Delhi plans to open 1,100 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) by March 2026 using ₹1,700 crore funding from PM-ABHIM. She added that 100 AAMs are ready, and the government aims to inaugurate 100 more every month.

Delhi CM also confirmed that every Delhi hospital now has a Jan Aushadhi Kendra to provide affordable medicines to public. These Jan Aushadhi Kendras ensure transparency and zero corruption in healthcare.

To increase Ayushman Bharat registrations, 70 mobile vans equipped with instant registration and awareness tools have been deployed, one per assembly constituency for 30 days. These vans will help low-income families and elderly citizens register quickly for health schemes.

Growth in India’s Healthcare

Minister Nadda noted how medical education has grown rapidly. The number of AIIMS has increased from 7 in 2014 to 20 today, and medical colleges have gone up from 387 to 780. Medical seats in colleges and universities have more than doubled from 51,000 to 1.18 lakh in the last few years under the Modi Government.
