PF Registration Now Easier: Government Launches Employee Enrollment Scheme 2025
NEW DELHI: Union Government has made it easier for employers to register their employees under the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF).
Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched the Employee Enrollment Scheme 2025 on Saturday, which officially came into effect on November 1, 2025.
The scheme encourages employers to voluntarily register all eligible employees under the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).
Nominal Penalty for Past Non-Deductions
Under the new scheme, if an employer has not previously deducted EPF contributions from an employee’s salary, they will not be required to pay the pending amount. Instead, they will only need to pay a nominal penalty of ₹100 per employee.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment stated that the move aims to formalize India’s workforce and make compliance easier for small and medium employers.
Minister Mandaviya’s Statement
During the launch, Minister Mandaviya said,
“EPFO is not just a fund but a symbol of workers’ trust in India’s social security system. Every reform should directly impact workers’ lives with transparency and simplicity.”
He also said that the government is working to improve the ease of doing business while ensuring every worker benefits from social protection.
EPFO 3.0 Platform Coming Soon
Central Provident Fund Commissioner Ramesh Krishnamurthy announced that the EPFO 3.0 digital platform will be launched soon. It promises faster operations, greater transparency, and easier access for employers and employees alike.
He added, “With new initiatives like the simplified withdrawal process and the Vishwas Scheme, compliance has become much simpler. Our focus is to strengthen trust and expand coverage.”
New Digital Services for 7 Crore Members
EPFO has recently introduced several digital features, including:
- Centralized Pension Payment System
- Aadhaar and Face Authentication for members
- Upgraded Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR) system
These initiatives aim to deliver seamless, paperless, and faster services to over 70 million EPF subscribers across India.
Boost to Employment Generation
Labour Secretary Vandana Gurnani said that EPFO plays a vital role in implementing the Prime Minister’s Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PMVBRY), which aims to create 3.5 crore new jobs and boost formal employment in the coming years.
