PM Modi Inaugurates Navi Mumbai International Airport and Mumbai Metro Line-3, Launches Key Development Projects
Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) and launched major infrastructure and development projects in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said Mumbai’s long wait for its second international airport has finally ended. The new airport, he noted, will position the region as one of Asia’s biggest connectivity hubs and strengthen India’s status as a global aviation powerhouse.
Built at a cost of ₹19,650 crore, NMIA is India’s largest Greenfield airport project, developed under a Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model with Adani Group and CIDCO. Spread over 1,160 hectares, the airport will handle up to 90 million passengers annually and feature sustainable technologies including solar power generation (47 MW), Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) storage, electric bus services, and water taxi connectivity, which is a kind of first in India.
