Uttar Pradesh News: UP Government Bans Coldrif Cough Syrup After Reports of Child Deaths; Probe Underway
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government has imposed an immediate ban on Coldrif cough syrup, manufactured by Shreesan Pharmaceutical, following reports linking its use to the deaths of children in multiple states.
Uttar Pradesh state has also launched a special investigation into the matter, with the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) conducting raids on medical stores to prevent further sales.
Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Uttar Pradesh Brajesh Pathak, confirmed in Lucknow that the state government has banned the cough syrup currently under national scrutiny.

He stressed that no medicine failing to meet quality standards will be permitted for sale in Uttar Pradesh and clarified that the government has never procured such medication for state hospitals or health centres.
Assistant Commissioner of the Drug Administration has directed all drug inspectors across the state to collect samples of Coldrif for laboratory analysis. These samples will be tested at the state laboratory in Lucknow to determine the cause and nature of the adverse effects reported.
The government order also prohibits the import and export of Coldrif cough syrup by both government and private institutions until further notice. Officials have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with these directives to safeguard public health.
