Significance
This marks another major consultation step in the 8th CPC process after earlier preparatory activities by employee bodies. These meetings suggest that the Commission has entered an active stakeholder consultation phase, where department-specific pay, allowances, service conditions, pension-related matters, and sector-specific demands are expected to be discussed.
Railway and Defence employees are among the largest central government workforce segments, so these consultations could be significant in shaping future recommendations.
The notice also mentions that additional meetings in Delhi will be scheduled later, with updates to be published on the Commission’s website.
The notice has been issued by Abhay N. Sahay, Deputy Secretary, Eighth Central Pay Commission.
