PhonePe Partners with Mastercard to Launch Device Tokenization for Secure One-Tap Payments; Now Live with ixigo

Mumbai: PhonePe Payment Gateway (PhonePe PG) has announced a collaboration with Mastercard to launch Device Tokenization — a technology that enables users to save their card once and use it securely across all participating merchants in the PhonePe network. This new tokenization feature, announced at the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2025, is now live with ixigo, India’s leading AI-powered travel platform.

The new “save once, use everywhere” capability allows users to make one-tap payments across multiple online merchants without re-entering card details. By using Mastercard’s global network tokenization expertise with PhonePe’s merchant ecosystem, the initiative promises a faster, safer, and more seamless checkout experience for millions of users.

For merchants, the integration will reduce payment drop-offs and checkout traffic, which will overall increase conversion rates and customer satisfaction. Instead of card data being stored with individual merchants, the tokenized system replaces sensitive information with encrypted device tokens, ensuring compliance with RBI’s security regulations.
