IBPS Exam Update! Aadhaar Verification Now Allowed for IBPS Exams to prevent exam frauds, check details

Ministry of Finance has allowed the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) to use Aadhaar-based authentication for verifying candidates during examinations. Fin Min announced this step to prevent impersonation and unfair practices in the recruitment process across the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector.

Now Aadhaar Verification is mandatory for IBPS Exams

As per the latest Gazette notification (S.O. 837), IBPS has been officially designated as a ‘Public Examination Authority’ under the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.

The notification, issued by the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, under Rule 5 of the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Rules, 2020, allows IBPS to utilise Yes/No or Aadhaar e-KYC authentication facilities on a voluntary basis.

The government aims to maintain transparency in public recruitment by ensuring that only valid candidates appear for exams. The use of Aadhaar authentication is expected not only to prevent fraud but also to help in the candidate verification process.

Recently, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that Aadhar-based OTP verification is now required for Tatkal Train ticket booking, effective from July 1st.
