Supreme Court (Amendment) Rules, 2025: Supreme Court Office Hours Updated, New Rules Notified in Gazette of India, check details
Published in the Gazette of India on June 14, 2025, the Supreme Court of India has officially updated the working hours for its offices. The changes were notified under file number CG-DL-E-14062025-263812 and signed by Kuntal Sharma Pathak, OSD (Registrar).
New Supreme Court Working Days Rule
As published in the Gazette of India, these rules may be called the Supreme Court (Amendment) Rules, 2025. The new rules shall come into force on the 14th day of July, 2025.
As per the new rules, the offices of the Supreme Court will remain open on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. However, no work—except for urgent matters—will be accepted after 12 Noon. These new rules ensure that urgent issues continue to receive the court’s timely attention on weekends.
It is also notified that, except on the days which are holidays both for the Court and the offices of the Court, the offices of the Court shall be open during partial Court working days and Christmas and New Year holidays of the Court at such times as the Chief Justice may direct.

The principal rules were published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide Notification number G.S.R. 368(E), dated the 29th May, 2014 and subsequently amended vide Notification number G.S.R. 670(E), dated the 18th September, 2019, G.S.R. 457(E), dated the 16th July, 2024, G.S.R. 688(E), dated the 5th November, 2024 and G.S.R. 163 (E), dated the 7th March, 2025.
