Government Confirms 8th Pay Commission Formation in Lok Sabha on 21 July 2025 – “CONSTITUTION OF 8TH CENTRAL PAY COMMISSION”

New Delhi: Union Government has officially confirmed its decision to set up the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) for revising pay scales of Central Government employees and pensioners.

The information was shared in the Lok Sabha on 21st July 2025 during a written reply by the Ministry of Finance.

Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance Response

In response to LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTIONS No. 150 raised by Hon’ble MPs Shri T R Baalu and Shri Anand Bhadauria, Minister of State for Finance Shri Pankaj Chaudhary stated that the government had already decided to constitute the 8th Pay Commission.

The Union Government is seeking inputs from major stakeholders and several departments like the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Personnel & Training, and various state governments.

The Chairperson and Members of the 8th CPC would be appointed once the 8th CPC is notified by the Government.

As for the revised pay scales, the government said the new pay structure would be implemented after the 8th CPC submits its recommendations and those recommendations are accepted by the Government.
