EPFO Simplifies Aadhaar Seeding and Correction process in Universal Account Number(UAN) through Joint Declaration

New Delhi: Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has issued new guidelines respect to Aadhaar seeding and correction in Universal Account Number (UAN) easy for EPFO members.

Ministry of Labour & Employment has issued the latest order vide order No: WSU /MemberProfile/E- 710137/2025-26/26 dated 13 August 2025, stating that the existing Joint Declaration (JD) functionality has now been updated to help employees correct or update their Aadhaar details linked with UAN.

EPFO highlighted that Aadhaar seeding as KYC has already improved service delivery by reducing delays and allowing members to directly access benefits without depending on employers. Now, for such cases where Aadhaar details like Name, Gender, or Date of Birth do not match UAN records, employers can file a rectification request online through the Joint Declaration functionality.

For cases where a wrong Aadhaar has been linked with UAN, employers can now update the correct Aadhaar number online and forward it to the Regional Office for approval.

If the employer is not available or the establishment has been closed, members can submit a physical Joint Declaration form attested by authorized officials like a Gazetted Officer, Postmaster, Bank Manager, or Village Head, at the nearest EPFO Regional Office. The Public Relations Officer (PRO) will verify the request and forward it to the concerned authority for approval.

All Aadhaar seeding or correction requests will be carefully checked and require approval at the Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (APFC) level to ensure the genuineness of the requests. However, for existing verified cases, requests for changing Aadhaar details will not be permitted.
